SACRED MUSEUM OF ST. ANNE KAMENZ
Lighting design for the Sacred Museum St. Annen in Kamenz – altars in focus
The St. Annen Sacred Museum houses one of the most important collections of late medieval sacred art in the region. The centerpiece of the permanent exhibition is a unique ensemble of five large-format carved altars dating from around 1500—the museum's main attraction.
Our lighting solution
Restrained technology, precise effect
Fischer & Partner developed a finely tuned lighting concept that preserves the dignity of the historic church space and at the same time allows the altars to be experienced in their materiality, color, and figurative density.
Elements of lighting design
- Harmonious blend of daylight-like and warm white LED light
- Minimize reflections for optimal visibility
- Underlining the contemplative effect of the room
- Development of a miniature lighting system that was integrated almost invisibly
- Uniform basic lighting precise staging of the main works
- No shadow distortion, no technical over-staging
Result
Make art visible, respect history
The altars appear in a new light – precise, calm, and dignified. The invisibly integrated miniature lighting system allows the art to shine while preserving the character of the historic monastery church. A concept that makes art visible and history tangible.
