CATHEDRAL OF THE HOLY TRINITY
Lighting design and luminaire development for the Cathedral of St. Trinity in Dresden – architecture, daylight and spirituality in harmony
For the Catholic Cathedral of St. Trinity in Dresden, we implemented a holistic lighting plan, ranging from the initial concept to the development of a dedicated lighting series. The goal was to free the church from technically dominant and cluttered lighting systems and create a calm, architecturally relevant lighting image that equally supports the liturgical use, spatial effect, and spiritual atmosphere.
The new lighting solution is based on the natural daylight effect of the room—soft, directed, and unobtrusive. This allows the original lighting atmosphere to be experienced even in the evening hours. To meet this requirement, we developed a dedicated series of luminaires whose design blends harmoniously into the listed building.
All visible luminaires—from the nave and side chapels to the choir—follow a consistent design language. The housing, lighting technology, and suspension were specifically tailored to the architectural features and integrated with minimal technical intervention. The result is a lighting system that impresses with its minimalist design, precision, and respect for the site—at the highest level of functionality, design, and atmosphere.
