LESSING MUSEUM
Lighting design for the Lessing Museum – Precise light for content, space and atmosphere
For the redesign of the permanent exhibition at the Lessing Museum, we developed a minimalist light line system that blends seamlessly with the architecture and discreetly into the space. The ambient lighting is neutral white, daylight-like, making the contents even and clearly legible—without any optical harshness.
The system is complemented by accent spotlights in warm white, sunlight-like light that specifically highlight individual exhibits, display cases, or text areas. This accentuated lighting brings depth, warmth, and visual tension to the exhibition—without disturbing the overall tranquil character.
The lighting system consists of clearly defined lines into which mini spotlights can be integrated. For the display case lighting, an additional solution was developed with suspended track systems, from which both neutral white light lines and warm white spotlights can be individually positioned.
The high flexibility of the adjustable spots creates a controlled, precise shadow image – an essential criterion for high-quality museum lighting design.
