Lighting design for the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial – Invisible precision through a minimalist light line system
A minimalist light line system was developed for the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial. It blends almost invisibly into the architecture while still meeting the highest functional requirements. Integrated into the ceiling as a fine, angular line, it remains in the background for visitors—and this makes it all the more impressive.
The system combines neutral white light lines for uniform ambient lighting with warm white, flexibly adjustable spot modules that specifically accentuate display cases, text areas, and architectural details. A special feature: The spot system can be positioned to the centimeter—for maximum precision in museum applications.
Despite its technical complexity, the lighting system remains invisible to the visitor's eye. It creates a calm, daylight-like lighting atmosphere, avoids harsh shadows, and supports a concentrated, respectful engagement with the site and its history.
A system that doesn't push itself into the foreground—but impresses with its functionality, aesthetics, and architectural integration. Timeless, understated, precise.
