ZWICKAU ART COLLECTION

Light art for the Zwickau Art Collections – Dome room as a radiant work of art

For the entrance foyer of the Zwickau Art Collections, we developed a custom lighting system that transforms the historic domed space into an extraordinary symbiosis of light, architecture, and design. The system consists of a central pendant luminaire and matching wall luminaires, which together create a harmonious, architecturally integrated lighting image.

The pendant luminaire forms the centerpiece of the lighting arrangement: It consists of modular, hand-blown fluorescent tubes that protrude from a support body made of gold-plated metal. The gold reflects the light warmly and diffusely, lending the room an almost otherworldly feel.

The accompanying wall luminaires echo this design: linear, elegantly curved light bodies – also covered in gold leaf – gently guide the light along the wall surfaces, creating a visual connection between the space and the object. The combination of fine materials, craftsmanship, and precise lighting transforms the domed space into a poetic work of light art.

The result is more than just lighting – it is a total work of art made up of space, light and material that welcomes, guides and touches visitors.
