JEWISH MUSEUM BERLIN

Lighting design for the redesign of the permanent exhibition at the Jewish Museum Berlin – “Germans and Jews at the same time”

For the comprehensive redesign of the permanent exhibition at the Jewish Museum Berlin, we developed a finely tuned lighting concept that combines historical depth, emotional impact, and curatorial clarity. The new permanent exhibition is titled "Jewish History and Present in Germany" – with the central theme "German and Jewish at the same time."

The Jewish Museum, designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, represents an important cultural and symbolic site with its striking architecture. Our lighting design responds sensitively to this spatial dramaturgy and complements the multifaceted exhibition with targeted accentuations, conservation-safe lighting, and calm lighting.

In close collaboration with exhibition designers, curators, and restorers, a lighting solution was developed that casts an expressive yet understated light on the original objects, media, and spatial relationships. The result is an exhibition lighting that equally supports memory, orientation, and reflection – in the context of a historically and architecturally unique museum.
