DRESDEN CITY MUSEUM
Lighting design for the Dresden City Museum – history in clear light
For the redesign of the permanent exhibition in the Dresden City Museum, Fischer & Partner developed a precise, restrained lighting concept that accompanies the city's history in an atmospheric and museum-like manner.
The exhibition was designed by the Dresden-based architectural firm Klinkenbusch & Kunze and structurally rethought – spatially, graphically and scenographically.
At the heart of the lighting design is the following principle:– daylight-like basic lighting that illuminates the room evenly, neutrally and colorfastly,– sun-like accent lights that specifically highlight content,– and the consistent single-shadow principle, which – as in nature – allows only one shadow per object, thereby creating maximum readability and tranquility.
A light that doesn’t attract attention but provides orientation.
The luminaires were invisibly integrated, conservation-friendly, and designed for modular reuse – for a future-proof, efficient, and design-consistent presentation.
